About Donor Designations for the United Way of Deschutes County

United Way of Deschutes County donors may specify how their contributions will be used by designating a United Way community impact priority, a United Way managed program, or any bona fide nonprofit agency. There is no charge to donors or recipient agencies for designating all, or part, of your contribution.

  • United Way of Deschutes County’s four community Impact priorities are Meeting Basic Needs, Keeping People Safe from Violence and Abuse, Giving Kids a Great Start in life, and Keeping Youth on Track for Success.
  • United Way of Deschutes County’s managed programs are Central Oregon 211 (the direct-dial resource line that connects people to the services they need), FamilyWize (the free prescription discount drug card), Take Credit (the low income tax filing assistance program) and Days of Caring (the county-wide effort matching local volunteers with nonprofit agencies for a day of community service.).
  • Eligible agencies include all private nonprofit agencies recognized as tax exempt by the Internal Revenue Service.

United Way of Deschutes County disburses designated contributions to recipient agencies in accordance with United Way Worldwide standards and schedule. These standards balance the desire to put donor contributions to work helping people as quickly as possible with the need for efficient use of staff time and related expenses…and allow us to provide this service free of charge.
