United Way Campaign Surpasses Half-way Mark!
Less than three months into the campaign, the United Way of Deschutes County is pleased to announce that the half-way mark has been surpassed in their effort to raise $1.2 million to help address the many urgent social service needs in Deschutes County .
Having raised over $630,000 thus far, the campaign has focused on reaching the citizens of Deschutes County through presentations in the workplace, often referred to as workplace campaigns. Early on in the campaign Jeff Ludeman, 2011 United Way Volunteer Campaign Chair, raised over $6,500 by securing sponsors and completing a 26 mile “Give from the Heart” solo marathon. Each mile of his run was dedicated to one of the 26 local social service agencies that United Wayhelps fund. In addition, a letter campaign has been directed to individual donors and Public Service Announcements are being aired by local media.
There is still time in 2011 to make a tax deductible gift to United Way of Deschutes County . This money is utilized to assist the 26 local social service agencies that rely in part on funding from United Way. This funding is very necessary to these agencies as they continue to provide the invaluable gift of assistance to the growing number of Deschutes County residents in need.
